Job Description

⚙️ Principal Forensic Mechanical Engineer | US | $180K+

\n

I’m working with a well-established and growing multidisciplinary forensic consulting firm that is looking to bring a Principal Forensic Mechanical Engineer into the business.

\n

\n

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an experienced forensic mechanical engineer who wants to take ownership of complex investigations, lead a team of engineers and become a key technical voice within a growing national practice.

\n

\n

You’ll be supporting clients across the US, working on complex mechanical failures, defects and damage across commercial, industrial and residential properties.

\n

\n

The Role:

\n

As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be the senior technical resource for forensic mechanical investigations, taking the lead on complex cases from initial investigation through to expert opinion and, where required, expert testimony.

\n

Alongside the technical work, you’ll lead and mentor a team of forensic engineers, work directly with clients and help shape the continued growth of the practice.

\n

\n

What you'll be doing:

\n

• Leading complex forensic investigations into mechanical failures, defects and damage

\n

• Determining cause and origin through detailed technical analysis

\n

• Assessing construction quality, design, installation and maintenance

\n

• Developing recommendations for repair, replacement and remediation

\n

• Leading multidisciplinary teams on large and complex projects

\n

• Reviewing and signing off technical reports and expert opinions

\n

• Acting as the primary client contact on forensic mechanical matters

\n

• Developing relationships with clients, attorneys and other consultants

\n

• Providing expert witness testimony in legal and regulatory proceedings

\n

• Mentoring and developing the next generation of forensic engineers

\n

\n

They’re looking for:

\n

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

\n

• 8-10+ years of experience investigating mechanical system and component failures

\n

• Active PE license required

\n

• Multi-state licensure strongly preferred

\n

• Previous leadership or project management experience

\n

• Expert witness experience is highly desirable

\n

• Strong technical writing, communication and client management skills

\n

• Someone who enjoys developing people and taking ownership of complex work

\n

\n

Why consider it?

\n

This is an opportunity to move beyond simply managing individual investigations and become a key figure within a growing forensic practice.

\n

\n

You’ll have the technical autonomy to lead complex cases, the responsibility of developing a team around you and the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients across the US.

\n

For the right engineer, this could be a chance to have a genuine impact on the direction and growth of a forensic mechanical practice.
